The diagnostic

Blood Investigations

Standard laboratory panels are designed to detect disease — to flag values that have crossed clinical thresholds. Within those thresholds, the result is "normal." But normal is not the same as optimal. And for the many people who feel unwell, fatigued, or far from their best while returning "normal" results, that distinction matters enormously.

Our blood investigation panels ask different questions. They screen for optimal function, not merely the absence of pathology. They use reference ranges derived from genuinely healthy, high-functioning individuals — and they are interpreted by clinicians who read patterns, not just flags.

What it measures

Our panels extend significantly beyond what standard clinical testing provides. Depending on your clinical picture, investigations may include:

Full thyroid assessment — TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies (TPO and TgAb)

  • Comprehensive sex hormone panel — oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, SHBG, LH, FSH
  • Adrenal function — cortisol, DHEA-S
  • Advanced metabolic markers — fasting glucose, fasting insulin, HbA1c, full lipid fractionation including LDL particle size
  • Inflammatory and cardiovascular risk — CRP, homocysteine, fibrinogen, Lp(a), ApoB
  • Nutritional status — Vitamin D (25-OH), B12, folate, full iron studies, zinc, magnesium, omega-3 index
  • Liver and kidney function
  • Full blood count and differential
  • Hormone metabolites via DUTCH testing where indicated — providing the most comprehensive picture of how hormones are being produced, used, and cleared

What the results reveal

Full thyroid assessment changes outcomes for a significant number of people. Testing only TSH — as most standard panels do — misses the majority of thyroid dysfunction. The conversion of T4 to active T3, the presence of reverse T3 blocking receptor sites, the autoimmune antibody picture — none of this is visible without a full panel. Many people managed on thyroid medication for years have never had their full thyroid function properly characterised.

Fasting insulin is the metabolic marker most likely to reveal early insulin resistance — a decade before blood glucose shifts enough to attract clinical attention. It is almost never tested in standard panels. It should be.

Homocysteine and Lp(a) are among the strongest independent predictors of cardiovascular risk. Standard cholesterol panels miss them entirely.

Nutritional deficiencies — Vitamin D, B12, iron, magnesium — are among the most common drivers of fatigue, cognitive dysfunction, mood disturbance, and immune compromise. Optimal ranges for these markers are considerably higher than the clinical lower limits that standard panels use to define deficiency.

What happens after — the protocol that follows

Blood investigation results are the foundation of a targeted clinical intervention — not a filing exercise.

Nutritional deficiencies identified are corrected through precisely directed supplementation and, where absorption is compromised or correction urgency is high, through IV nutrient delivery.

Hormonal findings are addressed through the most appropriate combination of lifestyle, nutritional, and clinical intervention — with the full hormonal picture guiding the approach rather than treating individual markers in isolation.

Inflammatory and cardiovascular risk markers are addressed through root-cause investigation — identifying the dietary, lifestyle, and physiological drivers and targeting them specifically.

Repeat investigations at appropriate intervals track progress and confirm the effectiveness of the protocol — making outcomes measurable rather than assumed.

How it works

How it works

Blood collection is performed at the clinic by our qualified clinical team — quickly and with minimal discomfort. Depending on the panel, a 10 to 12 hour fast beforehand ensures the most accurate metabolic and hormonal results.

Samples are processed by our accredited laboratory partner. Results are typically available within two to five working days depending on the panel.

A detailed results consultation reviews every finding — not as a list of in-range and out-of-range values, but as a clinical narrative. You leave understanding what your blood work means and exactly what actions are recommended.

Suitability

Who should get it and when

Comprehensive blood investigations are appropriate for anyone who wants a complete biochemical picture — and particularly for:

  • 01

People who have had "normal" blood tests but continue to feel unwell

  • 02

Those with symptoms suggesting hormonal, metabolic, or nutritional dysfunction

  • 03

Anyone managing a chronic condition and wanting to monitor their biochemistry with appropriate depth

  • 04

High-performers and longevity-focused individuals seeking a precise biochemical baseline

  • 05

People beginning any health optimisation programme

How are your panels different from what my GP tests?

Standard GP panels are designed to identify clinical disease within ranges defined by a broad population average. Our functional panels apply optimal reference ranges, test a much broader array of markers including full thyroid, hormone, nutrient, and advanced cardiovascular assessment, and interpret every result in the context of your whole health picture.

Do I need to fast before my blood test?

For panels including fasting glucose, insulin, lipids, and certain hormones, a 10 to 12 hour fast is recommended for accurate results. We will advise specifically when booking. Water and necessary medications are always fine.

How quickly will I receive my results?

Most standard panels return results within two to three working days. More complex panels — including hormone metabolites and advanced cardiovascular markers — may take four to five days. Results are reviewed in a detailed consultation, never simply sent by email.

Can I request specific markers rather than a full panel?

Both options are available. We offer curated comprehensive panels designed for specific health goals, as well as the flexibility to test specific markers based on your clinical needs. Your practitioner will advise on the most clinically effective approach for your situation.
